RECREATION POSITIONS:
OPEN GYM ATTENDANTS: Positions are filled.
Responsibilities include supervision of youth during open gym times, completion of weekly reports, maintaining discipline and order of youth, and tracking of equipment. Weekend hours required. Pay scale is $7.50-$8.50/hour.
LIFEGUARDS:
Lifeguards will be staffed at the Fargo South Indoor Pool on weekends December through March. Applicants must have current American Red Cross certification in lifeguarding, CPR and First Aid. Pay scale starting at $8.00/hour.
SKATING INSTRUCTORS:
Responsibilities include instructing beginners, intermediates, novice patch and adult skating levels at the Sports Arena, Coliseum and the Southwest Youth Ice Arena. Applicants are required to have basic through advanced skills experience. Weekday, weekend and evening hours required. Pay scale starting at $8.00/hour. ADULT HOCKEY REFEREES:
Individuals must be USA Certified. Leagues are on Wednesday and Sunday evenings. Games are approximately one hour. Pay scale is $35.00 per game.
YOUTH BASKETBALL COACHES:
Responsibilities include instruction and organization of youth basketball practices and games. Applicants must have good organizational and public relation skills. Weekday afternoon, evening and Saturday morning hours required. Program starts in mid-January. Pay scale starting at $8.00/hour.
WARMING HOUSE ATTENDANTS: Positions are filled.
Responsibilities include opening and closing of warming house facility each day, maintain discipline and order of people at the warming houses, completion of daily reports and general maintenance of the facility. Evening and weekend hours required. Pay scale is $7.50-$8.50/hour.
SPECIAL PROGRAMS ASSISTANT:
Responsibilities include supervision and participation with children and adult who have special needs. Also will help with preparation and setup for the programs. Weekday and evening hours required. Pay scale is $7.50 to $8.50/hour.
ADULT BASKETBALL REFEREES:
Individuals will be responsible for reporting to each scheduled basketball game, starting on time, and maintaining control of games. Individuals will be responsible to find substitute if unable to be at scheduled game. Individuals must attend all clinics that have been set by the Program Director. Weekday evening hours and Sundays required, November through March. Pay scale is $26.00/game.
ADULT BASKETBALL SCOREKEEPERS: Positions are filled.
Responsibilities include opening facility for games and securing facility after game; setting up for the games, enforcing School and Park District rules; run score book and score clock; make sure facility is clean after games. Individuals should know the game of basketball. Weekday evening and weekend hours required. Pay scale is $12.00/game.
ADULT VOLLEYBALL REFEREES: Positions are filled.
Individuals will be responsible for reporting to each scheduled volleyball game, starting on time and maintain control of games. Individuals will be responsible to find substitute if unable to be at
scheduled game. Weekday evening and weekend hours required, August through February. Pay scale is $14.00/match.
YOUTH VOLLEYBALL COACHES: Positions are filled.
Eight week program beginning early October. Position reports to the Volleyball Coordinator. Responsible for organizing practices and games. Must have good organizational and public relation skills. Weekday evenings and Saturday morning hours required. Pay scale starting at $8.00/hour.
DIKE WEST ATTENDANTS: Positions are filled.
Responsibilities include maintaining order and discipline of kids, keeping track of inner tubes, tracking of daily attendance, general maintenance of the building and working during private rentals before and after hours. Evening and weekend hours required. Pay scale starting at $7.00/hour.
BROOMBALL REFEREES:
Responsibilities include refereeing broomball games and enforcing league rules. Some experience is needed. Pay scale is $20.50/game.
METRO REC CTR. BUILDING SUPERVISOR: Position is filled.
Responsibilities include supervision of all activities at the Metro Rec Center; working private rentals and doing maintenance in the building. Individual must have good public relation skills. Weekday evenings and weekend hours required. Pay scale starting at $7.00 to $8.00/hour.
COLISEUM,SPORTS ARENA AND SOUTHWEST ICE ARENA SHIFT LEADERS:
Responsibilities include cleaning and general maintenance of the ice arenas and must be able to deal with the public. Zamboni experience helpful but not necessary. Pay scale is $7.00-$8.00/hour depending on experience.
SANTA VILLAGE:
Elves: Positions are filled.
Responsibilities include creating holiday magic by working in Santa’s Workshop and Farm House at Rheault Farm. Duties include guest relations and assistance, program facilitation including supervising children’s and adult activity areas; monitoring of model train area; and assisting Santa and Mrs. Claus in a non-commercial giving environment. Weekend and evening hours required, November 29 through December 23. Pay scale starting at $7.00/hour.
CONCESSION STAFF AT ICE FACILITIES: Positions are filled.
Responsibilities include handling food, money, general cleaning and keeping accurate daily records. Individuals must have good public relation skills. Pay scale $7.00 to $8.00/hour.
Evening and weekend hours required, September through February.
LITTLE PEOPLE SPORTS SAMPLER INSTRUCTOR/SUPERVISORS: Positions are filled.
Responsibilities include instructing youth ages 4 to 6 yrs the basics of various sports and group activities. This is a five week program on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Pay scale starting at $7.00/hour.
EVENT STAFF:
Event staff needed for fall events. Duties include guest relations, program facilitation including costumed characters and kids games, ticket sales, site set up and maintenance. Weekend hours required. Pay scale starts at $7.00/hour.
OUTDOOR RECREATION INSTRUCTORS:
Individuals must be experienced with hunting and fishing skills. The individual must possess good teaching and public relations skills to work with both youth and adults. Hours vary for these positions. Pay scale $8.00 to $9.00/hour.

Volunteer Opportunities
Adopt-A-Park
The Fargo Park District invites you to help keep your parks clean by joining our Adopt-A-Park Program. This is a great way for an individual, service club or group to help keep our parks clean along with having your own sense of pride in our community. The Fargo Park District is looking for volunteers to help with
special events and recreational programs throughout the year. Many
ages and skill levels are welcome in the volunteer program.
The Department of Cultural Activities relies on volunteer assistance to make events happen. Volunteers can assist in setting up and planning events. Volunteers can be greeters, ticket takers, game operators, and parking attendants. Some events encourage families and large groups to participate together.
The Recreation Department also relies on volunteers for coaching and other jobs for throughout the year. Volunteers help run programs for both youth and adults to participate in for a healthy lifestyle.
