Art ClassesThe Fargo Park District offers art classes throughout the year.  Classes include visual and performance art offerings for youth ages 3-16.  Classes are held at the Robert D. Johnson Building,
1104 2nd Ave S, Fargo and the Rheault Farm Bunkhouse, 2902 25th Street South.  Pre-registration is required.

Listed below are brief descriptions of the types of classes:


Artmania:  Children (age 6-8) learn the basics of drawing and painting by using all types of media.  This class will help children gain a better knowledge of art while having a fun time.

Performance ClassesChildren ages 4-10 can participate in a one day or multi-day series of classes lead by Penny Andrist and her musical pals.  Children learn songs, dances and work with props-then show off what is learned at a special performance at the end of each session for families and friends.

Accelerated Artists:  Youth (ages 9-11) may want to try a more challenging art class. Learn new techniques and strengthen your knowledge of art in these fun, creative workshops.

Art from Around the World:  Let your children (ages 4-8) take a trip around the world as they learn about art from various countries and make fun projects.

Aspiring Artists:  Let your children (ages 10-13) dive deeper into the world of art and learn more about various art stsyles and mediums. Enhance your creativity in this fun and relaxing atmosphere.

Artsy People:  Youth (age 10-13) can participate in one or all sessions.  Each session of this class will study a different style of art and complete a piece of original artwork in the style of that movement. Sign up for as many as you like. If you sign up for them all, you will get the last class for free!

Junior Artists:  Spend an afternoon with your child exploring the world of art. Have fun in these messy and creative classes while learning about art. Come ready for fun! All classes will be held on Wednesday afternoons from 1:00-2:30 pm.

Arts Sampler:  Children explore the arts as they get a chance to try a little bit of everything. Each session will be dedicated to one type of art; such as visual arts, music, theatre, and movement/dance.

Me-N-My Shadow:   Share an afternoon with your child doing fun arts and crafts projects. Each Me-n-My Shadow class is designed to explore a different theme through stories, songs, and art.  Adult must accompany child.

SPECIAL THEMES:


Mother’s Day Dandy:  Looking for a Mother's Day present? During this class, you will be able to create a surprise present for your mother, step-mother, grandmother or aunt. Come and have fun while making a creative project that will be sure to love!  For youth age 4-10.

Father’s Day Fun:  Come to this class and make a great project for Father's Day! We will create a fun present and wrap it up for your father, step-father, grandfather or uncle. Spend time being creative and making a fantastic present for Father's Day. For youth age 4-10.


Mrs. Claus Class: Can't decide what to get your mom for Christmas? Come and create a variety of crafts for a Mother's Day surprise. By the end of the class you have a gift that's wrapped and ready to give to your mom. For youth age 4-10.


Mr. Claus Class: Do you have any ideas to get you dad for Christmas? Create a special gift made from the heart to give him! By the end of the class you will have a gift that's wrapped and ready to give to your dad. For youth age 4-10.


Holiday Fun:  Youth (ages 4-7) plus an adult enjoy a morning of holiday crafts.

TEEN CLASSES :  One day session for youth (age 12-16).  Experiment with each activity in a two hour time frame.  Go home with a completed project.

Intro to Painting: Students will learn the fundamentals of painting, develop their skills and gain confidence in their ideas.

Intro to Mixed Media: Learn about different medias as you explore the world of art. Students will create unique projects during this creative class.

Intro to Scrapbooking Learn the basics of scarpbooking. Learn how to organize your pictures and how to start your own album. Go home with your own album to continue working on!

Intro to Animal Drawing: Dog, cat, gerbil, fish. Students will learn the basics of drawing animals. Students should bring a picture of their favorite pet (or a picture from the internet or a magazine) to create a portrait.

Intro to Jewelry Making: Learn how to make jewelry. Find out about different ideas and tips. Students will go home with some cool homemade jewelry.

Intro to 3-D Art: Students will create a variety of 3-D art projects.

Intro to Printmaking: Great for anyone who wants to learn more about creating your own prints.

Awesome Art Afternoons
Come and spend an afternoon of creative fun and exciting art projects. Children will be able to create a variety of art projects to take home.
This program is free thanks to Xcel Energy Foundation and by grant support for this project LAAC logoprovided by the cities of Fargo, Moorhead and West Fargo through the
Lake Azassiz Arts Council.

Bring your teddy bear for games, etiquette and dress-up. Bite-size snacks and refreshments will be served.

PARK IT!
Explore your creativity with the Xcellent Art Lady when she comes to your neighborhood for an afternoon of arts and crafts fun! She will bring all the supplies for you to paint, draw, color, or glue together. Create a variety of projects to take home. COMMUNITY PLAY DAY
Take a mini-vacation on the Farm. Kids will have fun playing games, doing a craft project and playing on the playgorund. Daycares are welcome. Adults supervision is required.
