Skating Classes
Skates: The Fargo Park District does not have skate rentals. Hockey or figure skates are acceptable. Double bladed skates are not allowed. Skates should fit where the big toe brushes the end of the skates. They should be tied tight as they will loosen as the child skates. Scheels and Play It Again Sports sell used skates.
Dress: Children are required to wear mittens or gloves in every class. Hats are suggested for Adult and Tots and Beginners for good protection of the skater’s head. Legs and arms must be covered. Skaters should wear layers of sweatpants instead of snowpants. As the weather gets colder outside, the temperature of the rink also gets colder, so dress warm.
Make-ups: Each skater is allowed one make-up class per session. Choose a class and let the instructor know you are making up the class time.
Testing: The testing dates will be noted in your confirmation letter. These dates will be the only time for testing. Test results will be handed out the last day of classes for the session.
Class Behavior: Skaters may not eat candy or chew gum during class. Parents are encouraged to watch but not to interact with the skater during classes, with the exception of the Adult and Tot Program.
Confirmation Note: Confirmations with actual dates of classes
will be mailed to all registrants the week prior to classes starting.
Due to tournaments, some classes may go longer than 6 weeks to
complete all sessions.
Please call Fargo Park District at 241-1353 for registration and
enrollment questions. Please call Laura Jacobson for general class
information at 298-6907 ext. 7110.

Red River Valley Figure Skating Club
The Red River Valley Figure Skating Club has been in existence since the early 1960s. It is a nonprofit organization, governed by the USFSA. A local group of Officers and Board of Directors govern the operations of the club. We were formed to promote and teach amateur figure skating. We offer instruction in dance, freeskate and moves in the field for the recreational as well as the competitive skater. There is the option of skating almost every day, year-round or 1-2 weeks a year. All ice and private lesson fees are the responsibility of the skater and/or parents. We offer summer school, test sessions, seminars, and synchronized team skating as well as our annual competition in February. We also offer the USFSA Basic Skills classes in the summer. For more information contact: RRVFSC at 287-1853 or Jean Paseka at 236-5997.
